This one-of-a-kind piece brings together rusted tea bag paper, stitched fabric, and scraps of story. Centered in the composition is one of my own photographs—an old home place that brings my family’s homestead to mind. Above it, tiny blackbirds take flight beneath clouds made of rusted cheesecloth.
The tea bag sits on a piece of worn pillow ticking, its faded blue stripes giving the piece of sense of home and history. Everything is mounted on weathered barnwood—cut, sanded, and framed by a local artisan here in Oklahoma. I used brass tacks to secure the fabric to the wood, leaving the materials visible and honest.
This piece is wired and ready to hang. It would feel at home in a rustic space, a cozy studio, or anywhere that welcomes quiet texture and memory.
