This piece begins with a brewed tea bag fused to interfacing. I added fabric from an old scarf and a scrap of turquoise silk. I printed the dotted paper using freezer paper and printmaking paper. Machine stitching follows the pattern of the brewing on the tea bag. A rusty washer is hand-sewn to the tea bag. Mounted and matted in white.

Hand-Stitched Botanical Impression "Three Flowers in a Green Vase" By Carol Ann Webster

$75.00 AVAILABLE HERE

This mixed-media piece began as a “Botanical Impression” ecoprint made with flowers from my own garden—each petal and stem leaving its unique impression on the paper through steam and pressure. The green vase is a part of the original ecoprint. I scanned the original ecoprint to preserve its natural textures and soft washes of color, then printed it on fine art paper to serve as the foundation for added hand-stitching. The embroidered details add dimension to the flower heads, offering a lovely contrast to the vase and the text background. The image is printed on a 5×7 piece of fine art paper and affixed to an 8×10 white mat with acid-free tape. Ready to frame in any standard 8×10 frame (not included). Visit my Website HERE

How to Add a Digital Image to a Tea Bag by Carol Ann Webster

In my art journal work, I use tea bags as tiny canvases. I list reasons why I started using tea bags in my art here. Plus, I like the idea of a tea bag being used in my artwork instead of ending up in the landfill. I feel like this art is part of my life by drinking the tea and using the tea bag after I clean and dry it.
