"On the Window Sill" Tea Bag Art - Unframed' by Carol Ann Webster Artist

"On the Window Sill" is a unique blend of tea bag art, textile mastery, and stitching.
The piece measures 8-1/2 inches wide by 13-1/2 inches high.

The centerpiece is a rusted tea bag printed with the artist’s own photography of dried plant materials. Against a backdrop of intricate patterns, a white fabric scrap forms the silhouette of a bottle, while black linen threads form the shape of the stems inside the bottle.

The color palette is a harmonious blend of dark gray, rust, white, black, and khaki. Both machine and hand-stitching techniques add layers of texture and depth to the artwork. "On the Window Sill" is not just artwork; it's a testament to simplicity's beauty, the artistry of using repurposed materials, and the timelessness of hand-made art. An Old Home Place on a Tea Bag by Carol Ann Webster Artist

An Old Home Place on a Tea Bag

My family homesteaded in Oklahoma. I’m still here. Never lived in any other state. Even though I have few memories of visiting the homestead when I was little, I like knowing that my family had the gumption to settle in a place they didn’t know much about to start a new life. The image on this tea bag isn’t that home place. But it could have been.

I imagine the set up would have been similar; the open prairie, a windmill, an outside pump for water, a clapboard house with a porch, a fence, and a bell to ring for dinner (which in my family’s case would only be my great-grampa). When I took a photo of this old home place not far from where I live, I thought of my family and knew I needed to capture that memory in my art. I see this image as testament to courage and hard work.
